In Microsoft Excel, the Tab key does not indent text in a cell like it does, say, in Microsoft Word; it just moves the pointer to the next cell. To change the indentation of the cell contents, use the Indent icons that reside right underneath the Orientation button. To move text further to the right, click the Increase. What is the VISIBLE character limit for one text cell in Excel 2008 for Mac? I'm using an older version of Excel with a 255 character limit and was hoping this newer edition would've improved things, but when I open my old workbook in Excel 2008, I still have the same limit of 255. Is there anything I can do to get around this in Excel 2008?

The actual limits are:. Length of cell contents (text) - 32,767 characters. Only 1,024 display in a cell; all 32,767 display in the formula bar. Column width - 255 characters It would appear that you need to format the cell to 'wrap text'.
That should open up the 1024 character display. If this proposed solution has resolved your issue(s), please return and mark it as Answered for others to consider.
Thanks, but the column width doesn't make a difference for me. I tried that. All I can see when I don't have the cell selected is #############. The formula bar of the selected cell shows everything in it and the column width and row height makes no difference. I heard this was fixed in the latest version of Office for Windows but does anyone know about this in Office 2008 for Mac (Excel 2008 for Mac)?
